Now that we have covered the “who we are” and “what we are currently working on”, we want to shed some light on one of the projects we have covered in the last year and a half we have owned our Carnation Craftsman. Which leads us in headfirst everyone’s favorite space: the kitchen! As much as I could articulate, a picture is worth a thousand words. To summarize: yellow walls, red “open cabinets”, missing linoleum flooring leaving the subfloor exposed, a cabinet that you couldn’t open because the door hit the oven, and appliances from the early 90’s. It wasn’t the first thing on our to do list, but on January 1st of 2020, Sven agreed we could finally begin working on it.
Now that you know a little about Sven and I, that brings us to our biggest adventure to date: our home. In September of 2019 we became the very proud and slightly overwhelmed homeowners for the very first time. Now while home ownership can be intimidating for anyone, we decided to jump in head first into the deep end… And by that I mean, we purchased a 100-year-old fixer upper. When we bought the house all I could think of is WWJGD (what would Joanna Gaines do?!). But let me tell you, it is verrrrry different from what the cameras end up capturing in a 30 minute episode. So, before we jump into what we have done so far, let me take you back to when we were first introduced to our little farm house.
I thought I would jump back into blogging and make it a little more personal by introducing my little family (little for now 😉). Since many exciting topics to come will consist of real estate, home projects, house décor, and DIY; I thought it would be appropriate to share a bit of who we are and what we are passionate about…
The Queen Anne neighborhood is a geographic icon of the Seattle area. Situated on the highest named hill in Seattle, Queen Anne spans across 2.8 miles and currently houses over 28,000 residents.
Selling your home comes with a long list of to do items, but one that I suggest to be a very high priority is staging. Staging allows your home to be presented in away that is appealing to buyers. Potential buyers want to be able to walk into a home and envision their lives there, complete with their furniture and personal belongings. Whether you are currently living in the house or have already moved to your new place, it’s really hard to look beyond all the stuff that may be left out. So here are three helpful tips for maximizing your potential to get the best deal/ to get your house ready to go on the market
There are plenty of reasons why the inexpensive date night has been my go to recently. A lot of my evenings and weekends are occupied with work, leaving limited time and energy to dress up and hit the town. Unless of course it consists of hitting up the local Mexican restaurant for bottomless chips and salsa, then I’m all in!
Maybe it’s my recent obsession with Marie Kondo’s ‘Tidying Up’, or it may be the grey, dreary weather that has me stuck inside on a decluttering binge. Whatever it may be, spring cleaning is in the air and I’m all about it!
One perk of my job as a Real Estate Agent is getting to explore the different cities and areas that I’m working in. Through this exposure, I’ve become familiar with some iconic restaurants, neighborhoods, businesses, and other features that make each city unique. I thought I would pass along some of these highlights by doing a neighborhood feature!
As many of you may know, being born and raised on the Sammamish plateau makes me a PNW native, but I have had the opportunity to move a few different cities including Dallas and Chicago. Having the experience uprooting myself from the Seattle area and relocating to new cities and states gives me a unique perspective for those planning to sell their home in Seattle and the surrounding areas.
With the turn of the new year, I published an Instagram post asking people what they were looking forward to in 2019. I was surprised to see that a majority of the responses (to be summed up) were “new beginnings.” The fact that so many people responded that they were looking forward to new beginnings really resonated with me in many ways. As I look back over the last few years and reflect upon the events, relationships, and life happenings that put my strength to the test, I realized that even on days where I felt like I was only taking baby steps, after a little time, I had actually covered significant ground.
I had the privilege of listening to Matthew Gardener as he gave his projections for 2019. He always has a fantastic way of summarizing big ticket items like the US economy all while projecting what he sees for Seattle and it’s surrounding market. Below is a summary of what Gardener projects for the new year and how both Seattleites and Americans are affected.
Recently it seems as if the media has been blanketed with a frenzy of renting a home vs. owning a home, creating unnecessary hype surrounding the market. Truth is, whether you rent or own is entirely up to you and there are many benefits on both sides.
I have gathered a few of my favorite home pieces that are both functional and can add a nice aesthetic touch to any space. No matter your style or the season, these fresh decor options could be just what you need to brighten up your home!
